(Hosted by the Mid-South Trails Association)

Aaryn Kay and Scott Linnenberger who make up the east USA IMBA Trail
Care Crew arrived in Memphis mid week. They made visits to several area
bicycle shops to promote mountain biking and IMBA.

The first public session was held Friday evening at Bikes Plus in the Cordova area.

Aayrn and Scott presented a slide show outlining the IMBA Trail Care Crew program. This included a discussion of proper trail building techniques as well as examples of what happens when the best intentions go very wrong. The meeting was held in Bikes Plus' well outfitted service department. The great folks at Bikes Plus also provided pizza and beverages for those attending.

Shelby Farms Superintendent Steve Satterfield arranged use of space at the Agricenter for the classroom session. Here Aaryn is explaining techniques to be used during the trail layout practice.

Aaryn conducting the safety talk before the hands on session on the Tour-de-Wolf trail in Shelby Farms. The emphasis is on the "circle of safety" when using hand tools on trail construction.

Those attending the trail building class get hands on experience using the tools that make a proper trail.

You've seen the Wisconsin cheese heads on TV. Now we have Tennessee sod heads! At this point we knew it was time to call it a day!
